Here in Omaha, there are two rival businesses, Kern Inc. and Receeds International. Even though the founders of these two companies used to be friends, they now wage silent, cruel war with one another, hirings spies and saboteurs to try and destroy each other.
However, there is an unknown third party who call them selves 'Warriors of Gaea.' They are eco-terrorists who wish to destroy technology, which they believe is destroying the planet. They have mostly worked in the shadows over the years, never drawing attention to themselves. Until now, that is.
Manipulating a man called Kyles, they have infiltrated both Kern Inc. and Receeds International, intensifying their rivalry until they were at each other's throats. Their biggest hit came when they kidnapped me, Megan Receeds, lone heiress to Receeds International, and made it look like Kern Inc. did it.
However, now I am confused. The lines between right and wrong are becoming to blurred for me to understand. Who is right? The ones who want humanity to advance and evolve? Or the ones who wish to preserve the planet? Or are they both wrong? Maybe both of them are right, I don't know. All I do know is that I want out of this small room that they have kept me in, I want to feel the sun, see the snow. I want to breath in the fresh air, not just the whiffs I get every time Kyles visits.
Oh, Kyles. I feel so sorry for him, more than I should probably. He's the one who kidnapped me, who made this all happen. I should hate him for that. I've learned, however, that this isn't what he expected. That these 'Warriors' have gone back their word, and now use my safety as blackmail to make him do what they want. All he wanted was to get back at my father for the death of his sister, he had not intention to harm me, or anyone else. But he has, and now he regrets it, regrets everything. Something deep down urges me, commands me, to try and comfort him. He's been like a friend to me ever since he started working for my father, and I need to believe that his friendship wasn't just a ploy to gain my trust. If I didn't have him to lean on during these hard times, I would have nothing to keep me from submitting and letting life go.
Anyways, this is my story. The story of an eighteen year old falls in love with her kidnapper. I warn you, this is going to be pretty. No flowers, no breathtaking declarations of love, this is nothing like a fairytale I dreamed of one day living. It's about two people finding forgiveness and companionship, of finding someone who understands you and cares for you no matter what wrongs you have committed.
