Several Worlds Apart

In the 1500s, in the middle of the ocean now called the Pacific Ocean, there was a landmass the size Canada. There, seven kingdoms existed: Celindon, Traistraidida, Ravenia, Selestia, Magolia, Prisaida and Rogueria. Rogueria was the ruling kingdom at that time in the continent’s history. As usual in stories like these, the prince is seeking a bride that would suit him and please his parents. In the kingdom of Rogueria the prince, king and queen were:

King William John Daniel Cornai,

Queen Jouslin Arinna Cdney Cornai and

Prince Chancellor Delan Roderick Cornai.

Because of the power and prestige that came with marrying the prince or Rogueria, all the kings of the seven kingdoms sent their daughters with gifts, money, grants of land, etc. off to Rogueria to be married. The prince of course was annoyed by this whole idea and just wanted to get the whole thing over with. His parents gave him a deadline and so he thought he might as well just marry the prettiest one and move on with his life.

Four centuries later, in the year 199 on August 16, a baby girl was born. Her name was and remains Katherine Zoë’ Simmons. As soon as she was born, her mother slipped a necklace with a strange looking seashell pendant around her neck. It had been passed down to the first girl in the family from for as long as five centuries. She turned 16 in 2007 and was your typical teenager.

“ Mom! Tell Matthew to hurry up1 I don’t want to be late for the umpteenth time in a row!”

“Matthew, hurry and eat.”

“You know what, I’ll just walk. See you guys later!”

Katherine left the house mumbling to herself and quite upset with her family. “Why do I always have to be the one to get things done in my family? It’s so annoying! And my mother won’t even consider helping!” And so she continued down the sidewalk until she heard a shout behind her.

“Katherine! Wait up!”

“O hey Case, What’s up?”

“Nothing. What are you mumbling to yourself about?”

“Just the usual…how unorganised my parents are and-“

“You ever think you’re too organised?”

“Can there ever be such a thing?”

“I think so, she’s standing right beside me.”

‘Hey!”

“Catch me if you think you can!” he shouted running away from her.

“You’re so immature!” she screamed running after him.

“Look who’s talking!”

They ran all the way to school where they ran into a teacher carrying a stack of books and got sent to the principal’s office: Case for causing mischief, Katherine for being early yet disobeying the rules: no running in the hallways.

Walking to Chemistry class, which they were already late for, Case exclaimed “O yea1 the fiftieth time this term! That must be a record!”

“Yea, and you had to drag me into your record breaking.”

“You love me anyway so stop scowling…I wish LaNey was here.”

“LaNey is going to kill us! We have a lb today remember!”

“O shoot!”

And they went off running again toward the class.

Please review and tell me if I’m wasting my time, I actually don’t like this chapter, it doesn’t grab anyone’s attention, but I wrote it some years ago and I can’t bother to change it……….
