Breaking Walls

It was you

I am sure

who taught me

about the walls

You neglected to tell me

of the doors

So I did not realize

their worth

I have spent

the better part of my life

walking in to your walls

Or maybe it was not

the better half

I am scared

and sometimes bloody

with my efforts

But I am also grown now

and away from you

It is now my choice

whether or not I break

myself against

the walls

or choose to find the doors
