The Guillotine (last thoughts of Marie)

Today I walk my final steps

Today I take my last breath

Today I feel the pain of death

But I swear I shall not weep

For if a tear falls down my cheek

If it lands upon by breast

If it pools on the wooden stage

My country, my France, shall never forget

I'll show no fear

I'll keep it in side

I'll find a way

A way to hide

I'll face the blade

That unforgiving slice

And I'll hope for life

Beyond this death
