You Came In Blind

You came in not knowing

The truth of my heart

Not knowing the trail of charred ashes

Nor the path of broken glass

I left behind

You came in not doubting

That a future with me was tainted

A future with me was deep with scars

And wet with bloody wounds

You came in only wanting

To see what your presence could do

What your presence could change

And make my life blaze with bliss

You came in possibly pursuing

A woman who needed a knight

A woman who thought she was fine

And only needed sexual comfort

You came in ready to ignite

Passions I knew not

Passions I thought were reserved

And kept for the emotionally stable

You came in trying to help me

Saunter through the past

Look forward to the future

And be content in the present

You came in not believing

That fear consumed my haunted soul

That fear made me harsher with every heartbreak

And that no one was ever going to come in

You came in not knowing

That before you lie a ruined girl

That before you lie a battered woman

And you came out with bandages
