Scream “Bloody Murder”
All the girls laughed as the reminisced over their sophomore year in their pajamas. “Have you ever heard how to play Bloody Murder?” The girl with the black hair, Luna, asked her guests. All of them shook their heads. “Is it a game?” Bella asked. Luna chuckled. “If that’s what you want to call it.” Her eyes shifted to each girl’s face. There were looks of confusion, excitement, anxiety, and fear.
“You’ve all heard of people like Bloody Mary right?” The girls nodded. “Well there’s one who’s never been heard of.”
“Who?” Daniella asked.
“Nightwalker.” Luna looked at them intently.
“Nightwalker?” All the girls asked at practically the same time. Luna nodded. “It hunts at night.” She explained. “It hasn’t been released though. That’s why no one talks about it. Once it’s unleashed, it can’t be stopped. It kills mercilessly, stopping for no one and nothing.” She glanced out the window.
“How do you summon it?” Cora asked. “With a chant of course,” Luna answered. “You must sit in front of a mirror during a thunderstorm- Nightwalker loves lightning and thunder, they disguise the screams- and recite this chant; Lightning flash and thunder crash, woman alone in tomb of stone, free you break, and now you wake, Nightwalker come, and stalk the night again.” Luna took a breath. “Considering the chant, one would assume it’s a woman.” Everyone nodded in reply. Thunder broke through the silence. “Looks like we’re in luck,” Luna smiled. “Who wants to do it?”
“I will!” Daniella volunteered. “No!” Cora cried. “Nothing will happen.” Daniella retorted. Cora looked down. Daniella sat in front of the stand up mirror in Luna’s hallway, followed by the other girls, and recited the chant. “Lightning flash and thunder crash, woman alone in tomb of stone, free you break, and now you wake, Nightwalker come, and stalk the night again.” Silence followed with sudden bursts of thunder. “Told ya nothing would happen!” Daniella shoved Cora. All the girls laughed and went to the living room to watch a movie.
Mrs. Stateson across the street was a quiet woman whom no one bothered. She was happily dusting her home, humming to herself, when her hums were interrupted by screams. She looked out the second floor window to the house where the screams had sounded. On the window of the house, written in fresh blood was “Nightwalker”. Mrs. Stateson dialed 9-1-1 frantically.
Police arrived at Luna’s house in no less than 5 minutes. Daniella, Cora, and Bella’s throats had been slit by, what police thought, fingernails. They bled to death. Luna had survived with a long gash down her arm. She was sent to a psychiatric ward and was left alone until 5 months later………
A specialist came to visit her. He was intrigued by the murder case that was never solved. “Now Luna, I’ll ask you once more. Who killed your friends?” Luna clicked her shoes together and continued to look at her feet. “Nightwalker.” She simply said. “But who is Nightwalker?” the specialist yelled. Luna slowly lifted her head and the corners of her mouth turned up into a menacing grin.
