Summary: Drabble/oneshot. The night brought her to her dreams, where she was free, and the day brought her to hell on Earth.

Written by Terra.

Glass Cage

She was dancing freely. Her feet lifting her upward as if she was flying. Invisible wings brought her to the sky, where the wind blew, exposing her childlike face, and the rain kissed her face softly. Eyes closed, she flew higher and higher. Into the sky, she danced without a care.

Her feet lovingly adorned with an angel's wings

The happiness that her light laughter brings

Smiling, she danced freely, moving to her own song

But the bliss would not last for very long

She was brought back to earth painfully as she woke up. Her dark room she was confined in contrasted with what she dreamed of. Freedom was what she wished for, but all she received was a glass cage where she was displayed publicly.

No longer able to avoid it, she prepared for the day and set off to school, ignoring the people that have made her life how it was now. The mask slide on slowly, she was no longer free. She was a display of her parent's upbringing. Carried in the glass cage, she was caged until sleep called her once again.

The smile never left her lips as she drifted through the day in her cage, but the happiness from her eyes was thoroughly extinguished. The day dragged by as usual before she returned home. Fleeing to her room, she rushed to return to her world. Her world where she was free, free to dance, free to fly.

Sleep beckoned her as her eyes slowly closed. And the world was bright, almost blindingly, but she loved it. She took off, dancing and flying, breaking the glass cage which had kept her in one place all day. She danced and flew, her wings taking her anywhere her heart wished. But it disappeared once the rays of the morning light woke her up again. The night brought her to her dreams, where she was free, and the day brought her to hell on Earth.

The glass cage shivered, but never broke apart

Smiling sadly, sadness began to seep into her heart

Although it was made of glass, it would never break

Her happiness dwindled away as her body began to shake

She was not able to break it, she could only do so much

Shrinking back from the glass, it shocked her with a touch

It was impossible and her hopes to escape finally fell

Sinking to the ground, she submitted to her living hell

The three stanzas of the poem are mine. They belong to no one else but me.
