One sunny day in fourteen-ninety-two
The edges of the map not yet unfurled
Columbus sailed the endless ocean blue
Then put the final limits on our world

No tiny nook or cranny was unknown
We found and smelted every missing link
And every inch to us has now been shown
All borders are now strictly drawn in ink

We took up arms and hacked into the Earth
In search of all that lay beneath her skin
And dug up all that had the slightest worth
The lovely planet’s crust is caving in

And so to space we turn our hungry eyes
To find more virgin worlds to colonize
