Unhealed Wounds

"Christine." A soft, soft voice whispered in the darkness. The raven-haired girl turned her head to the direction of the voice and placed a hand on her chest.

"Who's there?" She asked taking a deep breath. A pillar of light suddenly descended from the skies then slowly, big white feathers rained down and before she knew it, Christine was crying. In her chest there was a strange pain she seemed to know so well yet she couldn't think of a reason why it was there.

As tears continued to fall from her eyes she saw a familiar figure amidst the bright light and from there, the voice resounded again.

"Christine, I'm here…I' here now…"

"Mark?" She whispered reaching out for anything she could grasp from the figure. "Mark, it's you isn't it?"

He seemed to smile and reach out his hand. However, before their hands touched…

The warmth of reality and life seeped through her senses. When she opened her eyes, Raymond's concerned face was above hers and he was holding her outstretched hand.

"You were crying in your sleep." He whispered touching her face. "What's wrong?"

"What time is it?"

"It's only 3 o'clock in the morning, love. Now, tell me, was it a nightmare?"

She closed her eyes and took a lungful of air before responding to her fiancé's unanswered question. He called me love. She thought and then smiled.

"I had a dream." She began as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to his bare chest. Her eyes now roamed the vicinity of their new condo unit which was submerged in darkness. Her hands searched his chest and she leaned closer, kissing him at the neck.

Her raven-colored eyes met his blue ones. He began stroking her hair and she could tell that he was listening to her attentively. Smiling at his gesture, she continued.

"Then, I meet his gaze… every time it seemed to me as though he were smiling. And his beautiful eyes looking at me lovingly. It made me feel warm…warm and sad…" She whispered recalling the hand she failed to get hold of. Tears formed at the back of her eyes. "Raymond, I was calling Mark's name."

When he heard this, her blue-eyed fiancé kissed her on the forehead and wiped away the tears that rolled down her cheeks.

"It's been more than ten years since, huh?" He said quietly parting slightly from her and stroking her bare back with his long, slender fingers. "Shall we visit him tomorrow? I think that this is way of saying that you are forgetting about him. He might be a bit jealous since you've got a handsome guy beside you tonight, loving you endlessly…"

Christine smiled at him and wrapped her hands at the back of his neck, pushing herself up to meet his smiling lips. "He wants me to remember not to forget him."

"That's redundant." He answered slightly nibbling her lower lip as his hand crawled to her naked waist and then to her bare back. Pulling her closer to him, she planted a kiss to his chin and then leaned against the crook of his neck, feeling the heat on her face."So shall we visit him tomorrow afternoon? I'm free at 3 o'clock."

When he felt a slight nod from her he pulled her closer to him yet and made sure their naked bodies are touching each other. "Fine then, I'll go get the flowers."

"No red roses."

"Sure."

"Mark loves yellow and white stargazers."

"I'll go get them."

"He'll also love some sherry wine and sweets."

"Okay. There's no more problem regarding that. It'll be as you say tomorrow."

"Raymond?"

"Does he still need something?"

She paused and took a deep breath then shook her head. "No. It's not that."

He watched as she looked up to him again, her eyes gleaming with sad desire and love for him.

"Are you sure?" He asked softly as he slowly hovered over her. She nodded and tears rolled down her cheeks again. He wiped them yet again.

"Why are you crying? Did I hurt you a while ago?"

"No." She whispered, now reaching out for him. "I just realized how much I have taken you for granted…I'm sorry…Raymond—"

He cut her in by pressing his lips firmly against hers.

"No… It was I who took you for granted." He whispered entwining her fingers with his. "It was I who hurt you and abused your kind heart."

"I love you…" She whispered pulling him against her. "Let's please forgive each other... Stay with me forever, Raymond."

Tears almost formed in his eyes when he heard her affirmation of love. Feeling the passion in him light up, his fingers combed through her soft hair as he slanted his mouth passionately over hers, tasting, feeling, and smelling the scent of love in her body.

"And I love you too. There's nothing more to dwell on our pasts. We have only now." He whispered marking her neck. "…only our future. The one we'll build together from now on."

Her deep black pools met his blue ones and were now filled with love and longing.

And that was all it took for her to say her wish out loud. The wish he'd read in her mind when he first looked at him through her sadness and unhealed wounds.

"Make love to me again, please…Raymond. I need you…"

Raymond smiled as the sheets quietly rustled at his graceful movement. Their silhouettes against the pale blue moonlight, its light on their flesh, the way it gleamed in her eyes. He smiled at the slight pang in his chest but his guilt was washed with her loving gaze and he had to close his eyes for a second to take in the glorious feeling of his salvation through her.

And then, smoothly as the gentle waves of the sea, he kissed her, softly caressing her soft, smooth skin, her warmth… her body that was already seeking for him.

He trailed butterfly kisses to her neck, her chest, then slowly swirled his tongue on her taut pink nipples before taking them into his mouth and sucking hard as fondled the other with his hand. She reached out for him and balled his hair into a fist, moaning his name over and over again, pleading silently, brokenly to love her endlessly.

Raymond watched her as he parted from her then continued the trail of kisses to under her breasts, to her navel, to the patch of curls leading to the sweet spot he'd discovered a few hours ago. He parted it gently with his fingers and tasted her sweetness, making her convulse and say his name over and over again, like a mantra to grant the release she needed.

He parted from her and then gently introduced a finger in her melting core, slowly pushing and pulling out, watching her writhe in pleasure. He bent down and licked her breasts then inserted another finger. This time she cried out and almost pushed herself up from the bed but he forced her moans back to her throat by claiming her mouth and gently rubbing the soft, sweet bud with the pad of his thumb, harder and harder until she tightened around drenched his fingers.

"Christine." He breathed as he tore his mouth from her and saw her trying to retain her sanity through her half-lidded eyes. "Christine, say it. Say that you want me."

He pressed harder and she convulsed again. She reached out for his face and pulled his face towards hers. "I want… you…I want you Raymond. I want only you." He smirked and detached her hands from his face and readied to enter her. He licked her juices from his hand and gazed down at her, trying hard to control his want and need for her to prolong her pleasure.

Seeing her beautiful face drenched in moonlight, and the gleam of it in her eyes, he slowly lowered himself to her entrance, hearing her gasp as he entered her.

"It'll be fine, love." He whispered thrusting until he was all the way inside her. The raven-haired girl clawed at his back as he slowly and painstakingly thrust back out and delve inside again, repeating the process until she was begging for him to increase his pace.

He felt her nails on his back and touched heaven. Growling low in his throat, he guided her smooth legs around his waist and plunge into their lust-filled paradise.

At the Hospital…

Sean gripped his chest and looked outside the bright moon outside his office window.

"The dreams are getting more vivid." He whispered looking at Nathan's sad eyes who saw fear in his friend's eyes for the first time."The time is at hand."

As the tightening in his chest increased, Nathan embraced him and breathed into his ear.

"Brethren…Fear ye not…For this is thy Lord's will."

Sean looked at him and felt the tears run down his cheeks. "I love her, Nathan. I've loved her for the past ten years…"

Nathan nodded in understanding and thanked God that his office room was dark and lit only by the moon at the moment. Never in his years of devotion to God did he want to see vividly the tear-stained face of his brethren…even himself.

Sean looked at the forgotten checklist in his hand and clenched the thin slab of plastic in his hand. "My God, if this is Thy will…Give me the strength for I am weak still…" He whispered as Christine's smiling face flashed into his mind.

"A new life is going to begin inside of her." The other angel whispered as Sean's pure white wings unfolded and doubts circulated in him. "You were sent to save it. No matter who you were before…No matter what you were before…you were sent because only you could save her…Save her from yourself."

The doctor closed his eyes and solemnly whispered. "To love…is so hard."

"You know that it is not always like that. Love has a million forms…It is up to you to understand what yours is like."

"I'm selfish." The doctor sobbed folding his wings and clutching the lab coat of his friend. "I'm supposed to be giving her away but I want her all for myself. And Now I feel fear to be separated from her… to lose her again…"

Sean touched his heart. "The wounds here… have never healed…yet even if I know, I respond subconsciously with love to her heart's calls for me…" He braced himself.

"When I'm the one who is destined to inform her of her death…When I'm the one who is supposed to deliver her death message to the man she loves."

Nathan narrowed his eyes and just stared at the moon outside along with the sparkling diamonds which were the stars. He did not say anything more for he knew exactly what his brethren meant that he decided not to say the painful truth to him for fear that he might open his own unhealed wounds and worsen his.

"What will become of your children, oh Lord?" He thought closing his eyes… letting everything drown in the stillness and sadness that was in that time.
