Ya Soshla S Uma
Chapter 4
It had been exactly two months since Taura moved to Tacoma . She hadn’t talked to Anna since that time she surprised her by showing up at her doorstep. Ever since then she’s been depressed and she felt stupid. Not only because she had expected Anna to return her feelings, but because she spent so much time obsessing over her best friend in ways she shouldn’t be. There had to be something she could do to get her mind off of Anna.
She decided to go over to Jaiden’s house. He always had something for them to do. She just hoped he wasn’t with Lexie. It seemed like that girl just got worse and worse. She never even acknowledged Taura, but would occasionally give her a dirty look. Not that Taura cared, she absolutely hated the bitch.
She grabbed her jacket, putting it on as she opened the front door. The cold winter air hit her face and she zipped her black coat all the way up. Putting her hands in her pockets, she slowly made her way down the sidewalk.
Despite the cold air, the weather was beautiful. Everything was quiet and peaceful; snow was definitely on its way tonight. Taura loved the winter; it always made her feel calm.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get Anna off her mind. Everything reminded her of her best friend. The brown leaves were like the color of her hair and the grey sky was like the color of her eyes.
She shook her head, attempting to rid her mind of the thoughts. 'Anna has a boyfriend now . . . she's your best friend and it will stay that way . . . it's for the best' she thought as she turned into Jaiden's driveway.
'Yes . . . it's for the best . . .'
She rang the door bell and waited patiently for someone to answer. She just hoped it wasn't his mom . . .
The sound of the bolt could be heard and the door swung open.
And there stood Ren . . .
She smiled at Taura. "Hey!" she said.
"Hi Ren, is Jaiden around?"
The blonde's smile faded. "No, he's with Lexie and Ashlyn . . . he left just 10 minutes ago, so I'm not sure when he'll be back."
Taura nodded, "Oh okay . . . well, can you tell him to call me when he gets back?"
Ren's smile returned. "Yeah, I'll tell him . . ."
"Okay then . . . thanks! Um . . . see you later" Taura said.
Ren nodded as Taura turned and headed down the stone steps. The raven haired girl stopped and looked back just as Ren was shutting the door.
"Hey, Ren?" she called.
The blonde paused and waited for the other girl to continue.
Taura walked back up to the porch. "Do you want to go for a walk or something?" she asked.
Ren's mouth opened slightly, as if to say something, only the words wouldn't come.
"Well . . ." she said looking behind her.
Taura laughed a little. "It's okay . . . you don't have to if you don't want to . . ."
Ren shook her head. "No! It's not that I don't want to . . . it's just . . ."
"Oh . . . your mom?"
The blonde nodded.
"Oh, well . . . I wouldn't want you to get in trouble . . ."
"Well . . . I'm sure it will be okay, just this once. It's only a walk . . . "
Taura smiled, "Are you sure?"
Ren nodded as she put on an off-white coat. "Yeah, I'm sure it'll be fine."
The blonde stepped outside, closing the door behind her. "So, where are we going?" she asked.
Taura shrugged, "wherever."
"Alright then, follow me!" the blonde said, almost child like.
Taura wondered when the last time Ren actually got out of the house was . . .
"I think you're a bit too tall" she said.
Ren giggled. "Yeah, just a bit!" She let go of the rings and ran over to another part of the playground. "I used to love this thing!" she said as she held onto the silver bar of the . . . "play thing."
"What is it?" Taura asked.
Ren's mouth fell open in surprise. "Didn't your elementary school have one? It's a spiny thingy! See, watch!" She placed one foot on the thing and used the other to gain speed. She let out a yell of joy as she spun around. Taura laughed.
The blonde hopped off. "Whoa, a little dizzy now . . . maybe that's enough of that then . . ." she said as she stumbled.
"You were going pretty fast" Taura said between laughs.
Ren giggled as she stumbled once more. "Whoa!" she said as she fell forward.
But before she could hit the ground, Taura caught her, and it looked like a rather . . . intimate hug, if you were just a passerby.
Ren's face turned ten shades redder and she pulled away.
"S-sorry, thanks!" she said as she ran over to the swings.
Taura couldn't hide her own blush, but slowly followed Ren to the swings.
The blonde was already swinging pretty high by the time Taura got there.
"I bet I can jump off farther than you!" Ren called.
Taura arched an eyebrow. "Oh, really?"
"Yup! No one's been able to out jump me!"
"Well then, we'll just have to change that, won't we?" Taura said as she began swinging.
Once she got as high as Ren, the blonde smiled and yelled, "are you ready to lose?"
Taura smirked back. "Jump on three . . ."
"One . . ."
"Two . . ."
"Three!"
Both girls leaped from their swings and soared through the air. They started laughing once they hit the ground.
"It's a tie!" Ren yelled.
Taura nodded as she smiled. She watched the blonde leap up and run towards the grassy area of the playground.
'Where did all her energy come from?! She's like an entirely different person!' Taura thought as she ran after the blonde.
'But I like it . . .'
She stopped and watched Ren scoop up piles of leaves.
"What are you doing?" Taura asked.
"I'm making a huge leaf pile! I can't remember the last time I jumped into a huge pile of leaves!"
Taura smiled softly as she helped Ren pile up leaves.
"Okay! I think it's ready . . ." Ren said.
She glanced at Taura and smiled, showing her perfectly white teeth. It was the first time Taura saw her smile like that.
The blonde giggled as she pushed Taura into the insanly huge pile of leaves.
"Hey!" she said as she grabbed Ren's hand, pulling her down with her.
They both laughed as they threw leaves at each other.
Taura didn't know the playground could be so fun . . . she didn't know that she'd actually be able to get her mind off of Anna . . .
Ren made her completely forget about Anna . . .
