As we walk along in the still, moonlit night

our feet dampened by the dew

that clings to the silent blade of grass

I turn to the sky

trying to calm this still-rising fear

and live just in this day,

this hour,

this moment.

trying to run

from that day,

not so far ahead,

and just live for this.

trying not to think

of the future that lies ahead.

I breath in the cool, dewy air

and turn to you.

our eyes lock, and say just what I've been

waiting to hear.

the rising fear is dampened

and for the first time,

all I feel is this moment

and your gaze upon mine.
