From the Ashes

I know I’m not the perfect person,

Like others I have sinned,

But I strive for redemption,

I have given my life to the lord.

My past is not who I am,

You must understand that,

I will not be defined,

By my past stupidity and rage.

I am a different person now,

In part because of you.

Now I’m stronger and wiser.

I am no longer the girl you knew,

You can’t push me around anymore,

You can’t have me,

You can’t control me,

I am the lord’s.

I have risen up from the ashes,

I have been given a second chance,

I no longer dwell on my past,

I live for my future.
