In a State of Flux

It is hard to compete with wild emotions
I never know what I want
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
But that means nothing when that eye is constantly changing.

My mind has a habit of wandering
It sets up a new camp wherever it goes
And only stumbles back when it has lost a place to go,
readily accepting the feelings it had when it was there last.
Time has no place or reason.

And then again reason has never had a structure of its own.
How far its wandered,
how far its gone
But made so little impact
It's a shame I'm so stubborn

Even so, you'll always have a place in my head
a place in my heart
And I'll revisit those feelings
just long enough to keep them alive.
I probably wanted you once.
Will probably want you again,
Because I can never give up what I've had.
Can never let go of my past.
