Blue skies and climbing trees,
Dandelions in the breeze,
Pink lemonade in Dixie cups,
Ten cents a piece, drink on up.

Chocolate milk, old TV shows,
Singing with the radio,
Fireflies and shooting stars,
Watching clouds in my backyard.

Color crayons, and trampolines,
Water slides and faded jeans,
Feeling mud between my toes,
Planting beans to watch them grow.

Strawberry ice cream, honeybees,
Training wheels, scraped up knees,
Tire swings and Candyland,
Building castles in the sand.

Hiding cookies in your room,
Waiting for the rose to bloom,
Tag, Go Fish, Dominoes,
Dressing up in dress-up clothes.

Grandma’s house and truth or dare,
Trying to cut your sisters hair,
Puddle-hopping down the street,
Wearing the same clothes all week.

Closet monsters, catching frogs,
Sneaking inside with the dog,
Pulling pranks, and jumping rope
Having your mouth washed with soap

The simple, sweet pleasures that last;
Aren't meant to stay deep in the past.
