Getting Closer or Further?

Well this is pleasant I thought as I inwardly rolled my eyes. I could barley breath in this dense air for Christ sake. Of course I would forget that my carelessness might have caused a slight alarm of sorts, but I didn’t expect it to turn out like this. Apparently I need to think more before I jump into situations that involve me running off like the overly dramatic actress that I am.

I had expected myself to be welcomed back to the mansion like any other day. Just walk in, hand my bags to Lion, the butler and go on with the daily chores. But it was different this time. Oh how much different it was.

Instead of being greeted by the old kindred spirit of the butler, I’m faced with three very stunned, and surprisingly worried faces of the Myths, who were all one sitting in the enormous room that they thought of as the small lounge area. I guess being rich makes you think that a room big enough to hold four couches, a mega sized flat screen TV and full on bar with its own personal bartender was good enough to be consider a small relaxing space. I felt like doing a face implant with the wall to wonder how I ever got this job.

Yet, before I could even inch over to the wall and act out my actions, I notice Dagan move right beside me, his attire quite professional looking than his ‘model’ wear as he so proclaimed.

His clothing consisted of a black suite, black polished shoes, a black vest with expensive looking buttons that were surly pure, and a blue tie that happened to reflect his eyes. With his hair slicked back to finish it off, you might have thought he was already the owner of his father’s company, even though he was still attending a college that only accepted the most elite souls through its doors.

Trying not to gawk at his strange, but fitting appearance, I glance over to the Myths again. My eyes gaze over and land on one certain demon child catching my eye as she continued to stare at me. My jaw almost dropped when I saw the expression that was planted on her little childish face.

She looked relieved.

Little Elli, the demonic child that was hell bent on making the world her own personal playground for her twisted games looked relieved to see me. Shocker.

Standing there, I find myself practically shaking my head at the image. Of course my absence would bother her; I was her nanny after all. I was the one that would take her for walks, bring her food, and clean up her toys after she had successfully set up her own full out battlefield of dolls against stuff animals. Which to say sadly, the dolls won after they were thrown across the room while being set on fire.

Those poor souls, the stuffed animals never saw it coming.

Though, that was a great day to test out that unused button on the phone dial that happen to be made pacifically for the fire department. The Myths are always a step ahead for these kinds of things I guess.

After a few moments of reviled looks and awkward silences, I inwardly prayed for something to drastic the attention away from me.

Thankfully one god wasn’t upset with me today.

“Apparently you were missed.” Dagan remarks from beside me, confusing me before I look back to see Elli jump off her seat and come running at me full speed with the intention to kill. I guess I should have enjoyed my moment of peace with her before I was met with a sudden death.

“Where were you?!” Was all I could manage to hear before I found the air from my lungs being forced out of my body by the impact of the small girl. What the heck was she made out of? Bricks?!

“I was up all night wondering when you’d be at Mister Duke’s tea party like we do every Wednesday, but somebody forgot to show up!” Elli hisses as she glowers down at me, or at least she would have liked to look down at me. I was still standing and thankfully had my neck out of her vengeful hands that looked as though wanted to strangle the very life out of me. From beside I can hear Dagan muffle a snicker as Elli jumped up to try and grab my locks.

With heated glare directed towards the man I look back to the now frowning girl and gave a little sigh. Bending my knees, I adjust myself so I’m eye level to her, while silently hopping that my life wouldn’t be in danger as I lightly spoke to her in the tone I would my own brother whenever he threw a little temper tantrum.

“I know Elli, and I’m very sorry. I didn’t mean to leave like that but at the time I wasn’t feeling very well. I hope we can schedule duke’s tea time for next Wednesday.” I said sincerely as I watch Elli give me one last fixed stare before calming down. With a sly smile she grinned ear to ear like the cherisher cat. I knew what was coming before hand.

“Well then Miss Evett, I accept your apology and next Wednesday I expect you to make at least two dozen of those snicker doodles for me and my guests. Don’t forget to make the mint tea either.” Was all she said, or commanded before trotting down the hall as she whistles a little tune that vaguely reminded me of that very popular funeral song. That girl really was demented. So..so very demented.

Turning back to the rest of the Myths, I felt an explanation was probably in order. Atriums looked to both her son and me, clearly wanting to know to why I had gone missing for a day.

Here goes nothing. I thought as faced them both dead on.

“It was my fault for me leaving” I said, my eyes never straying to look over to see Dagan’s expression as I continued. No matter how much I was upset an him for what had happen, I should’ve acted more like an adult rather than some forlorn girl who demanded attention. Heck no.

“I wasn’t thinking at all and I’m sorry for worrying you.”I said with an apology, trying not to bring up the fight I had with Dagan as both the Myths stared at me. I notice Mr. Myth was looking over to his step son with hidden suspicion before turning back towards me. I can see were Elli got her observation genes.

“But what could have been troubling that would make you leave in the rain?” I glance over to see Mrs. Myth full attention on me, her dirty blond hair curled and loosely lying on her shoulders. Today she wore simple, but completing white dress with blue swirls and design. He shoes were channel, not much of surprise, as she sat there patiently, waiting for the reason on why I left.

“Well it’s hard to explain-“ I began, hoping to find the words to put together but was cut off by Dagan’s stern voice.

“I made her mad. I said something I’ve shouldn’t have.” I watched, bewildered as Dagan told him about the fight. I couldn’t believe he would even step into the conversation. From the look in Mrs. Myth eyes, she had already understood and gave a soft heartfelt laugh.

“Well then no wonder you left. Ever since Dagan was little he always loved to tease girls. Especially this one when he was seven-“Mrs. Myth bean but was quickly stopped by nervous Dagan.

“Mother, please don’t.” Dagan pleaded as he slightly paled by the obvious embarrassing story his mother was about to tell the world. Next to her, Mr. Myth lightly shook his head at his wife’s actions.

“Oh I’m sorry dear, I just can’t help it. It was so cute how you were with her. It was like you two were soulmates or something.” Dagan mother said with a sigh, clearly a true hearted believe in the so called fated bond known as soulmates. Dagan could only blush as he shook his head. Aww, was widdle Dagan embarrassed? Got to admit, it was kind of cute.

“That was years ago. And she’s probably long gone from here so stop with past reflections.” He grumbled grimly. For a hint of a second I thought I saw a flash of pain crosses his eyes but was quickly gone when I looked back to check.

“Yeah your right. But I can never forget the time you came home crying because a certain five year old had punched you and knocked your first tooth out just because you told her you liked her.” Atriums giggle as Dagan groaned in defeat. I couldn’t help myself either as I snickered. Funny, I did the exact same thing to a boy when I was little. If I could, I would have given that girl a high five for knocking out the play boy’s tooth.

After some time, we seem to get lost in some random conversation about things that caused Dagan to get into trouble, all the while the bachelor himself practically sitting in a corner to get away from his mother’s ramblings. I could help but laugh at some of the things would get caught doing, one him running around a yard in nothing but his superman undies as he yelled, “I’m awesome!” Looks like his ego started young back then too.

Yet, finally after mopping in the corner he walked over to me and sat beside me, quietly leaning against the couch as he would roll his eyes ever once in a while at a comment his mother would make about a certain moment in time he’d play pranks on others and such.

Smiling to myself I listen in to his mothers words. I didn’t even realize his arm slide behind me to rest on the couch; I was too into the stories to pay attention to Dagan’s observant eyes on me.

Giggling from other stories Mrs. Myth was telling about Dagan and ice cream, the sound of the door bell ringing chimed deictically among the air. Seeing the old butler slightly limping over to get the door, I quickly excuse myself to open the door. Walking over, I tell lion I’ll get the door and watch as the butler nodded his head in thanks. When I had reached the door, I expected a business man or some client of the Myths to be standing at the marble entrance, but find something complete different.

Gapping, I find a drop dead gorgeous blond model posing at the entrance.

Well, I thought she was posing, but I guess to her that’s just her standing normally. The way she was just standing there was effortless and elegant, like she didn’t even need to try and to do those outrages poses to get a glamour shot. She could just sit there for all she cared and get all magazine cover shots. Hell she didn’t even need air brushing; one look at that flosses white skin would even make touch ups unneeded.

And here I was standing like an idiot. Just by looking at her as I felt too plain, if not ordinary. She probably could get any guy she wanted, and not even have to work hard for it like other girls. Not like how I had to back then.

Wow, talk about a confidence killer. I thought awkwardly as I continued to stare, feeling a weird familiarity from her.

Hey, are you gana stand there or let me in?” She said with an all too familiar angelic, but pretentious voice. Oh, great. Did I ever mention how I hate people who are snobs? Sure she’s pretty, but I don’t understand what guys see in people like her. She reminds me of a girl I used to know not too many years ago-

Shit.

Just then I realized the all too haunting familiarity. She didn’t just remind me of her, she was her.

Amber Livingston

The bitch was back.

Well, I thought as I mentally cursed, trying my hardest not to growl at the woman before me and punch her pretty face in. Someone really doesn’t like me up there.

Hey guys! I’m sorry how long it’s been taking for the updates. I just been feeling down lately and been busy with school. I have AP classes this year and choir so I’ve been pretty much staying after school for these activities and working on projects so I haven’t been able to think about updating much. Anyway, I got this chapter up will put up a Halloween special, since I felt like making one. It’s just a side story so don’t expect it to have anything to do with any of the chapters. Have a happy late holiday XD
