I Want My Hero Back

The sun had not come up

It wasn’t six o ‘clock.

That when he called to say

He’s leaving.

It woke my father, too

But like most fathers do

He left the room when I

Was crying.

He was my brother when I first learned how to play

But he can’t hear me now he’s gone and away.

I want my hero back.

Please God give him to me.

He needs to know how much I miss him.

Without him I am scared.

No one to show me where.

I never got to say I love him.

He told me he would write

And think of me each night

With all the other lonely brothers

But when there came the time

I had to say “good-bye.”

All my pain seemed to last forever.

He’d give himself so that our country will be strong

They say he chose to fight and that’s where he belonged.

I want my hero back

Please God give him to me

Or give me eyes so I can see him

Without him I am changed

And everyone is strange

They say his name like he is dying.

These are lyrics to song I wrote, dedicated to the soldiers out there fighting for our country. And also dedicated to my friend Binbin Liu, who I'm afraid will one day by this brother...
