We love to talk of nonviolence.

We change the world by voting

By standing in large groups,

Waving signs and chanting,

Making speeches

Sending e-mails.

Violence is never an option.

We look at the rioters with dismay

Burning cars, fighting the police?

Violence is not the answer.

The world can’t be changed that way.

Meanwhile, we honor our forefathers

The bold patriots who fought their oppressors

Who destroyed property and took lives for their cause

They were brave and noble,

They were heroic

They were not terrorists,

They were just fighting for their freedom.

And they won.
