Obligatory Yes

I am caught, these blinds pulled down shut

it's so much easier to tell me how to feel

not that I'll actually take the advice, but who knows

maybe you'll think I have

all I want is a You

I suppose I've gone too far, walked on water too long

ripped apart the shreds even more until they were just

empty space.

every time I meet a You

something happens (not the way the

story-writers would have liked it, maybe)

I am this girl – so naïve

I am a girl, I am young, I am a revel

(everything secondary)

so when I see a You I wonder where are You

I wish You'd tell me You love Me

so I could love You too.

I am caught, sliding on marble floors

country music drowning out the screams

floating on indigenous paradise,

miracles soar on by

and so I run (because I am caught)

and so I fly (because I am caught)

and so I try (because I am caught)

I am caught, the doors are opening,

but they're all the wrong ones.

I am caught, this shadow, this reincarnation

I am in Something's grasp

(they tell me it's my own.)

all I want is a You

You'll be perfect, like only Aphrodite could do

You'll give me a blue rose, and You'll say

all those things that don't make me feel like

I have to say them back to You

I'll just say what I want to Say

and I'll be Me and You'll be You

(together We'll be We)

but I am caught,

labelled to suit these needs,

epitomising reality with sightless dreams,

I am caught, they say it's because of me

they say I must do this myself

I no longer Say, for when I Say

everything is picture imperfect, two dimensional

personified invisibly.

(only quarks ever told me the answers)

I am caught

all I want is a You.
