Untitled

(December 26, 2006)

Last night I learned about true love for the very first time

And I drank away the memory with some old red wine

Your kiss on my cheek turned stale and cold

Tonight's a golden evening and tonight I plan to fold

We came home from the mall with matching eating disorders

Mine was slightly more in style but I still wanted yours

We went shopping to celebrate and came home lugging gifts

I exchanged them all while you were out, you didn't even notice

In the backseat you decided while I sat up in the front

I ignored the stranger violating you with his deep grunts

I had my brand new headphones stuck deep inside my ears

When you came out hot and bloody I suggested buying beer

He told me I was honest and I kissed him on the mouth

There was more I could have done that everyone would talk about

But I was holding you in my arms and denying what I said

Then I turned on my heel to find you naked in my bed

You had charcoal on your hands and I had glitter in my teeth

You were ever so distracting, I was learning how to read

All my friends said I was stupid, what I'm doing is a waste

I said I'm just pretending to afford expensive taste

Author’s Notes: Rhymes to the tune of Kimya Dawson’s “The Beer”. Good song.
