Never Break

Robust and strong
Young and wise
Bending but never breaking
Scarred but never shattering.

Even as the winds of change
Flow about me through the wide leaves,
Even as the branches bend and twist
Even as the leaves flutter this way and that
I do not crack.

Through the myriad days and years
Growing, learning, ever changing
Through the good and the bad and the painful
I weep and bleed and grieve
I do not break.

Sheltering everyone, protective
Constantly shifting, adaptable
But never going so far,
Never forced to reach within and hide so far
That even the strongest branch
Creeks, weeps, breaks.
I do not fall apart.

AN – This is poem that was originally a school assignment. We were supposed to describe ourselves as one thing (ex. A tree or the moon) that exemplifies one trait that is important about ourselves (ex. Stability or loyalty). This was my attempt. So what would you give me?
