Dead Fright

Have you ever been the girl

Still up at two a.m.

Because she can't sleep?

The moment of terror

Body stiffens if she

Hears the slightest sound.

Breathing unsteady

Hands, legs shake

Heart beating faster

With every passing second.

All she wants is to be protected

And to see another day.

She's afraid to look

Around the corner,

She knows what may

Lay out of sight.

God she feels so helpless.

She pleas,

To no one.

No one sees the terror

That fills her every night.

But look closely

And maybe you will see.

Maybe.
