I wake up in the softest bed I’ve ever felt. I curl up and hug the pillow beside me. I’m content to just lie there until the world stops.

Then I remember what happened, the death of the orderlies, the blinding light, and Fene. I sit up in bed and look about, nothing but white walls. But I see a splash of green that marks a balcony.

I get up and walk outside onto the balcony. Beyond this room lies a forest that stretches for miles right up to the mountains off in the distance. The view is absolutely stunning.

As I stand admiring the view two arms snake themselves around my waist. My heartbeat quickens and I turn my head to stare into the eyes of Fene. And as I look upon him I struggle in his grasp. But his hold doesn’t loosen, and then he leans down and kisses me.

My parents are gods, well demi-gods. My mother controls nature and my father controls everything else. I train with them for months learning about my powers and my lineage.

They say my destiny is to destroy all they’ve created. They say that some day my powers will consume me and I’ll destroy every living thing on this planet, even them. But someone will escape my grasp and rebuild this planet and make it better then it was.

But until then I intend to indulge myself. They allow Ashley to wake up, after I’ve complete all my training. I sit and wait for her to wake naturally. I mask myself and blend into the walls watching her curl up in bed. She sits up and looks around.

As she stand looking out over the land my parents have claimed I let my disguise fall. I wrap my arms around her. As she looks at me a look of pure terror erupts on her face, she still remembers what I did to escape that wretched place. And as she struggles in my arms I lean down and give her a kiss of assurance that I won’t hurt her.
