Chapter One
"Sally, come on, we've got to get to the airport or we'll miss our flight." Sally's mother called from beside the staircase.
"Good." Sally replied from upstairs in her room.
"Sally Renee Parker, you get your butt down here this instant or I swear I'll take your cell phone away for a month!" Sally's mother ordered.
"Is that a threat?" Sally asked as she walked into the hallway from her bedroom door.
"You bet it is. Now get down here. The movers will be here any minute." Her mother said.
Sally sighed but complied none the less. She slouched while slowly and ungracefully making her way down the stairs to the first floor where her mom waited.
When she reached the bottom of the steps her mom smiled, this pissed off Sally even more. Her mother was gloting about her daughter actually obeying her.
Sally glared at the back of her mom's head when she turned around. "It's not like there was anything worth doing in my room anyways. Everything's packed up in boxes." Sally said, hoping to get the messege that her mom hadn't won through to her.
It was a whole other long and boring hour before the movers finally arrived. Sally, as impatient as ever, gave her mom one heck of an earful when they walked outside to get into the taxi that would take them to the airport.
"Any minute my butt." Sally muttered the second that the car door was closed and the taxi took off toward their destination.
When they reached the airport, Sally and her mom had to race to the whole other side of it to catch their plane. It was then another 8 long, gruling, boring, painful, utterly wasted hours until they arrived at their destination, the Las Angeles Airport.
Sally grabbed her backpack and stood up from her seat on the plain. She stretched as she made her way into the aisle. Her mom followed after her. It took about 15 more minutes just to get off the plane, not to meantion the extra 30 minutes it took to get their luggage. By the time they had gotten everything and had made it to the outside of the airport, it was just typical that their taxi that they had called earlier was late.
Sally groaned as she got into the late taxi that had just arrived. She was extremely tired, seeing as how it was 4 am back home in New York City, and 1 am in Las Angeles. She practically fell asleep in the car, it was actually very tempting, if the taxi didn't smell like dead fish and rotting fungus, that is. And who could ever forget the wet dog smell that just wouldn't go away no matter how long you had the window open?
By the time that the taxi reached Sally's new home, it was almost 2 am. To Sally's great surprise, there was quite a lot of traffic on the highway at the early hours of the morning.
The moment that Sally walked through the front door and into her new house, she immedietely went to her new room only to find all of her things in boxes. She slumped her shoulders and groggily made it downstairs and into the kitchen where her mom was.
"Mom." She groaned. "Where am I supposed to sleep tonight? Do you know how long it'll take to get everything set up?"
"Don't be rediculous. We'll set up everything tomorrow. I called my friend who lives in town, we'll be staying at her and her family's home for tonight. She was thrilled to have us. After all, she hasn't seen you since you were just a few months old. I'm sure you don't remember her though. She should be up still. She said she'd stay up until we got there and then she'd get us situated. She has a son your age, you know. He'll be going to your school when you start up again in the fall. I believe his name to be Hayden. To think, if you two hit it off then you'll have a new friend already when you start Sophmore year." Sally's mom said with a smile.
"Are you kidding me?" Sally whined.
"Oh stop being such a baby. I swear, you act just like a five year old sometimes. I hope it's not an age thing. I can't imagine everyone acting so immature." Her mom said while shaking her head.
"Mom! I'm only acting 'immature' because it's late and I'm beyond tired! I feel like dropping dead!" Sally shouted at her mom.
Her mom just rolled her eyes and said, "Oh, you're so dramatic. Honestly, I have no clue where you get it from."
"Hello? I was in drama club for the past 7 years. And where exactly have you been during that time?" Sally said while crossing her arms over her chest.
"I was working, trying to make a good living for us. I know I overworked, but now that I've been transfered, I won't have to work so much. So you'll be seeing a lot more of me from now on. I'm trying to make up to you all the time we lost whilest I was working and you were goofing off." Her mom said.
"I wasn't goofing off, I was working as well. I didn't get an award from my acting at my old school for nothing. I was one of the lead roles in all of the plays and musicals. If that's not hard work, then I don't know what is. I spent long hours working to be perfect." Sally said.
"Well, you did go to drama camp every summer for the past 10 years." Her mom said.
"And I don't know how I'm gonna survive without it. I just hope that this new school has a drama club or something. Something that I'm good at." Sally said. Her mom opened up her mouth to say something but Sally interupted her before she got the chance, "And no, I am not going to join debate club. I hate that. You made me do that 3 years ago and I hated it. I'll never do it again willingly."
Her mom pouted and mumbled, "Fine."
Suddenly Sally's mom's cell phone rang. Her mom rushed to it and picked it up. "Hello?" She said. "Oh, Paula. Yes, we're in town. Uh huh, we'll be right over. Okay, bye." Her mom smiled and said, "That was my friend Paula, the one we'll be staying with tonight. She said that her family and her are very excited of our arrival. We should leave now. It will take a few minutes to get there. Grab your backpack, purse, luggage, and anything else you might need. You'll change into your pajamas at her house."
Sally sighed again, she was doing that a lot lately. "Alright." She said as she grabbed her stuff and walked off toward the garage. Their car was already in there. She put her stuff in the trunk of the car and sat in the passenger seat while her mom sat in the driver's seat. They pulled out of the driveway and were off. Little did Sally know, this move and drive to her mom's friend's house was just the start of the events to come that would change her life forever.
