I am all that you see

There is nothing left of me

No pot of gold after the rainbow

No face hidden behind a mask

-

Some think me naïve

But I speak of what I believe

I lay it out on the table

I set it out for you to label

-

There is more to me thank you think

Though my steps are often out of sync

I don’t hide but you just don’t look

If you tried you could read me like a book

-

I’m the girl guys want to befriend

And that’s where that relationship will end

I’m not seen with the naked eye

Proclaimed friends oft pass me by

-

I am all that you see

There is nothing left of me

No pot of gold after the rainbow

No face hidden behind a mask

-

I’m surrounded by people

Many gravitate to a steeple

But how many take the time

To see if I like my water with lemon or lime

-

How many try to care

When their worries breathe fair

And a tide threatens to swallow me whole

When only one cares for my soul

-

I’m often left behind

When people seem resigned

I’m first to come to mind

When you are in a bind

-

But see me on your brightest day

You might like enough to stay

The girl who spreads her wings to fly

In the bright and glorious sky

-

I am all that you see

There is nothing left of me

No pot of gold after the rainbow

No face hidden behind a mask.
