I Want to Write a Story

I want to write a story

I want to use all those Literary tricks

I learned in school.

Like foreshadowing

And metaphor

And allusion

And the other things I know but can't define.

I want to have a hero or a heroine

Or both

And a villain

And a faithful sidekick who's never as deeply appreciated as he should be.

I want the story to twist and turn and to curl around itself

To consume

To intrigue

To capture.

And to hold the reader's mind and keep them up all night long.

I want to write something true to life

But completely fictitious.

And heart-wrenching that it makes people sob uncontrollably

And laugh just as hard.

I want to teach life-lessons that I myself haven't learned yet.

I want to dedicate my story to my mom and my dad

And I want to write an epilogue that contradicts everything I previously stated because

After all, people need to come to their own conclusions

Concerning anything important.

I don't want to answer life's questions

But to ask them.

But I do want to write a story.

Modern

I can

Make my poem

Look

Longer if

I break up

a single

Sentence

Into many different

Lines.

Plum Juice

Plum juice dribbles down my chin

As I read from the author

That has inspired my appetite.
