The Seven Great Sins are, as listed in order, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride.
Do you see a 'Homosexuality' on there? I don't.
What is marriage today in the United States, when you can get married and divorced at a moment's notice? What is marriage today, but two rings and some insurance benefits? Should we really take it that seriously, if what everyone's talking about is a celebrity's seventh marriage? My point here is, marriage is really not as 'sacred' as you may think.
Allowing gay marriage will have no negative effects on society, technically speaking. If two men get married, the world will not blow up. Go take a look outside, everything's just as sunny as before. And no, allowing gay marriage doesn't mean that we're going to let people marry animals, or have multiple wives or husbands, just because we're letting two men or two women get married. Those are SEPERATE ISSUES. There will be no chain reaction. If you want one, go buy a pack of dominoes.
In fact, the sole reason people are speaking out against gay marriage is because some religions 'forbid' it. Didn't many of us come to this country to escape the rules set on religion by our countries? Isn't that the whole point of America? To allow people to be any religion they want, to let them speak out? Christianity is a major religion here in the United States, but that doesn't mean it's allowed to affect our laws. Allowing gay marriage to be banned because the Christian Bible 'forbids' it is like saying, "You're a majority. Here, rule the world." If you allow religion to control our laws, America will no longer be the place it's meant to be: a safe haven for those who wish to practice their religion without fear of prosecution. What happened to Seperation of Church and State? Did you allow THEM to get married?
Gay marriage would actually have positive effects. Do you know how many orphans are out there, living miserable lives? If you're saying gay marriage should not be allowed because they can't have children, then I'm going to go petition another law. All couples who get married must have children within two years of the wedding or their marriage is voided. How's that? Not right? Okay, then your reason for not allowing gay marriage doesn't work either. If gay couples were allowed to be married, then more orphans would be adopted. No more overpopulation, yay! There'll probably be less crime, too, as many orphans turn to pickpocketing and things like that when they get too old to be adopted. Think about it. A gay couple might adopt a kid and raise them right, or you can ban gay marriage and get mugged by that kid in a few years.
Got any other reasons for banning gay marriage? Tell me. I'll throw it right back into your face.
