Lullaby

Sing me sorrow on borrowed lips
False pretense, your lullaby
My eyes close against the notes
Asphyxiation wrapped in a sweet song

Time falls away as the music stalls
A murmured line of beauty
Mixed into the shallow screams
A medley of melodies

The efferent song lulls
A pearl amidst a two-tone world
Shining with opalescent dreams
Caked in the concealer of deception

The tempo revives
Electrified into shattered colors
Magnetized into clear conception
A prism too tired to reflect

Color retreats into spacious corners
The notes clamoring their protest
Throwing a sing-song noose
Encompassing their sunset lover

Open my eyes unto my dream
A carbon-copied reality awaits
Leaving only a lingering taste
Of notes and colors in my veins
