The
monster hiding under my bed
is warning
me not to fall asleep.
It knows
what I will see
when I
close my eyes.
Ignorance
seems to be my trait,
so I place
rose petals on my eyelids
and let
the darkness take over.
Ignorance
seems to be my biggest
flaw.
Ignorance is hubris. And
hubris
brings me down.
So behind
my rose petal eyelids
the
monster comes out from under
my bed and
it throws back it's head.
It cackles
because I should have known…
My eyes
fly open and the rose petals
are
crushed. Thus the story of my
life.
(Isn't
it always?)
