The Wizard’s Hat
“If ever you come to this town
There’s something you will see
You walk the streets here up and down
In amaze then you will seize
For what you saw is nothing more
Than just an older man
Around him there’s the deepest lore
Of magic’s wondrous land
Worn-out robe and worn-out shoes
And staff of cracked wood
Slow it is the way he moves
But best you see for good:
Above his head and beard so white
And eyes like cunning cat
Above his thoughts and mind so bright
There stands the pointed hat
Maybe just an older man
But magic runs his heart
As swift his mind as is his hand
To play the magic’s part
The hat of light and magic tricks
The wizard’s hat it be
Weave a spell; or maybe six
And even more you’ll see!
For that’s the way of wizard folk
Whose magic spells are real!
He can freeze the words we talk
And make them fly from here
There nothing is he couldn’t do
For wizard has his hat
The hat of wonders, magic clues
That we have never had
The wizard’s hat; the magic’s heart
In this town all it’s true!
See it once – forget you can’t
The wizard’s smile for sure!”
