Warning: Too much time spent reading the English translations of Japanese songs will result in melancholy free verse.

Every time you smile

It hurts a little more

Because you're a little farther away

One day you'll reach a place where I can't glimpse you any more

You'll forget us

Meet others;

None of us will ever see you again

--

In that faraway land, will you be closer to them

Than you ever were to us?

When we weep for you, will you recall a tiny piece

Of your life with us?

Or will you laugh and toss your head as before

When you were happy?

--

Will you be lost forever to me?

Or is there something left that will cause your return?

A/N: Was pondering in my usual idea-generating place (the bathtub) and got a song stuck in my head. This was the result. I am rather certain it comes from listening to too many Utada Hikaru and Rie Fu songs. (The specific culprits are probably 'Flavor of Life', 'Passion', and 'I Wanna Go to a Place'.)
