CALM CLOUDS

9.5.2007

Reginald Fredericks

I sat across the table from the window

With my fork and spoon in hand

Nibling on my chicken, chomping on my green trees

Mixing my grits and sloshing my tea

It was through nature’s window I saw

The famous clouds of the sky greet me at supper’s dawn

So there I ate, staring at the puffy marshmallow

One said “hi” and then floated away

Another said “greetings” and fly away

But one stood still and said “Hey, look at me”

It was that one that I saw and captured my attention

I look around him and saw the blue ocean in which it swam

Waves of glory splashed here and there

And it’s call went forth from beyond it’s reach

Other clouds surrounded him and joined him in heavenly harmony

Together they sang a wonderous song

One that caught my ears’ drums and my eyes’ affection

I looked around and saw a blue corridor filled with misty clouds

So white and beautiful I couldn’t saw anything

But just let my heart speak those soundless cords

And let my mind imagine those artistic robes

The sky was so beautiful today

And the clouds were fair, even more fairer than beauties of old

It reminded me of seeing a woman

So soft and beautiful, dressed in a white robe

With a gold crown on her head she walked down my way

Those legs, so graceful and appealing

It was those that grabbed me and said

“I love you, please walk my way”

And my heart leaped as she took off running

Into a giant expanse, filled with water and waves

Into the world of my heart she vanished

Never again did I see her

She was like that cloud, so wonderously beautiful

Filled with the angels’ glory and divine beauty

So were these clouds, dancing and marveling in God’s sky

Soon, though, my pit was full and my sphere half devoured

I soon left to spin it into the grinders’ factory

But back to my table I went

My eyes couldn’t stop beholding the most beautiful sight of the day

Those dancing clouds, those beautiful lambs, that floating snow

So calm and meek, gentle and humble, unashamed and honored

One last look I took and headed to my shame

What’s that you say?

The realization that such a cloud was so calm and peaceful

It had no worries and no fears…it just danced and spoke

No words, no motions, no sounds

It was just there, staring at me in the face

Peering through the window as if it were chasing me

Woeing me to be her lover just for a single moment

It was then I knew one thing,

God’s creation is wonderful!

God Himself is wonderful!

How calm I can be, just like that cloud

When I have no worries and no fears

There He is, staring Me in the face

Peering through my heart and soul, as He were searching me

Hunting me down, woeing me to be my lover

Even if it were for eternity

Such interesting thoughts can come to one

When simply looking at a cloud through a window

But I tell you, God’s window is always open searching you

Staring at you in the face, waiting for you to realize your sin

Repent and confess in Jesus Christ today

Cause like that cloud, you’ll float on by

Through eternity with His hand on your worries and fears

But fear, indeed, if you do not because judgment awaits you

Let Him still your sin, ceasing the suffering of death

And like many of us, you can be calm too

So, do me a favor and take some time today

And look out the window

The heavens declare the glory of God

The clouds in the sky sing a song

“God is real, God is good. See how beautiful He is?

Look at us and believe on Him today?”

With a peace surpassing all understanding

God is an awesome God

Because His love and grace are like that too,

Nothing but one hundred percent, calm clouds
