"HEY! I was reading that!!" Theresa cried out as Armand took her comic book from her.
"For the last time, SHUSH! Or else I'm kicking the four of you out!" The lady yelled again.
I look over to see Laurie covering her mouth in an attempt to muffel her laughter, her shoulders shaking and her black and pink hair bouncing everywhere. Armand just rolls his green eyes, not seeing the humor in getting yelled at by the librarian. Theresa just pouted, she knew she wasn't getting the comic from Armand any time soon so she gets up and walks back over to the comic rack to look for something else to read.
I shake my head at them, my blonde pigtails swishing back and forth.
"Hey guys, I'm going to go find a book, kay?" I call over my shoulder as I head over to the fiction isle. Shouts of 'okay' and 'see ya Sabi' fill in the room. The librarian hushes them again and they sheepishly appologise.
I walk through the isles of the fiction section. Millions of books are lined up next to each other from ceiling to floor. Books of every color, height, and width adorned the rows apon rows of shelving. Every book was a tale waiting to be read. I look at the books with a grin of humor. "I had read nearly every book in this whole section." I say to myself.
Walking down the row, I see a book on a top shelf that's turned on it's side. I grab the step stool from nearby and carry it over with much dificulty. When I get it over to under the book, I climb on up and reach for the book. I stretch up and get onto my tip-toes, but it's just out of my reach. I continue stretching, but give up after about a minute to cross my arms and pout.
After standing there, glaring at the book in hopes it would just jump into my hands, I start to reach again, then take a slight jump. My hand touches the book and I close my hand over it. When my heels reach the stepstool again, I feel myself slip backwards. I pull my arms and the book to by chest and brace myself for the impact.
When I find myself nearly standing instead of on the ground, not to mention with a pair of arms around me. I open my eyes-- when did I close them? -- and look around to see Armand holding me tightly. I stare at him in surprise without saying even a word.
"You okay, Sabriel?" He asks me and it takes me a moment to respond.
"Oh, yeah! Wow, I'm seriously glad that you were here, Arie... Wait, why were you here??" I say, still in shock with a touch of confussion.
"I followed you after you left the comic section. I guess you didn't notice. You always get like that when you're in this section. All unaware of your surroundings and what-have-you..."
"Yeah, I guess I do get like that sometimes..." I laugh at it the pull myself from his arms. He lets go of me with a trace of hesitance, he must still be worried. "I'm okay, seriously."
"You sure Sabre?" He asks, concern clear in his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm good," I tell him, and relief comes to his eyes. "So, did you find anything interesting while in here?" I ask him practically joking. I know that he isn't a fan of fictional stories, but he always tries reading one every so often if I recomend it to him.
"Yeah, let me tell you, Sabre." He jokes, rolling his green eyes again. He turn around and walks away. "Come on, everyone's leaving already." He says over his shoulder.
I see a look of mischeif in his green orbs as he says, "I'll race you." Unluckilly for me, he jets it as soon as he says it.
"No fair, that's cheating!" I call after him, and start running after him.
"Is not! I'm not the one who's on the offensive now am I?!" he calls back to me, and I can't help but crack up. I know that he's jealous that I got the position on the team that he wanted, while he got stuck with goalie seeing how he's the only boy on the team.
"It wouldn't be girl's lacrosse without you as our goalie, now would it Arie??" I shout up to him as we near the check-out part for the library. He stopped a few feet after he barely missed knocking into the librarian, and I checked out my book. I could care less what it was, I just wanted something to read really.
After the librarian gave me a hard look for running around so much, she rolls her eyes and gives me a small smile. I grin at her, then skip out of the library with Armand to my side. I know that she forgave me, and she knew I had appologised. It's the same thing every sunday night.
"Goodbye Auntie Amy!!" I call over my shoulder, and she waves bye to me. I turn to Armand and whisper a simple "Race 'ya??" and kick it, and soon he's the one calling back about how it's not fair. I laugh and continue running.
Yep. Even years from now, things like are never going to change.
