Felis Mortilis
Raven aka Shadowcat

3) A kitten with an owner but no home. Together they slept in a closet, hidden away from the little girl’s life.
4) The girl’s path led her back to the land of blazing remarks and sharp tongues, where she met a poet with azure eyes and tears that sparkled like fire. They fell in love.
5) The kitten was happy.
6) A wild and happy dog joined their lives, and they left the desert of shiny clothes to a magical land of trees and doe. But it was too cold in the winters so they moved back.
7) The fires of childhood are no place for a kitten. He quickly learned how to pretend to be a soldier and fought daily just to be himself. Kindergarten is a primer in social conformity.

11) Well maybe just once.
12) In a land of steaming espressos and warm rainy days, the soldier found that maybe he could just be a kitten and maybe that was okay.
13) He met a Lady who was both a Knight and a Princess, his “Joan of Arc” he thought- though he’d never say it to her face. She was sure she was just a Princess.
14) The kitten found he still had to play the Rebel, albeit a cat-eared one… especially around his Princess.
15) The kitten found others like him in the strange new place and realized sometimes you don’t have to be different to be yourself.
16) The little kitten who’d always loved to write began anew with the flurry of passion, realizations, and newfound courage.
17) The cat-eared rebel and the Knight-Princess realized they were both making silhouettes out of shadows. They took different paths on an intersection, departing as only a kitten and a princess. It was for the better.
18) The cat realized too late that love wasn’t easily replaced- a princess was better than no one at all. It was for the better.
19) The cat learned to stand on his own and made a decision that burned like wildfire. He hoped he would not regret the bridges he burnt.
20) A little boy with white-blonde hair sits in the corner writing in a diary of pictures. Perhaps I knew him once.
