Zen Blade

Green To Grey

When every blade of grass is gone,

when everything that is green has disappeared,

what then?

To a void it goes; a dark void-

never to return.

The birds will cease to feed on it,

the earth will never nourish its roots.

Thus, to the void they will go as well.

A blackness of emptiness.

There, all things go when the soul

has been sapped out of them.

Green is the color of the spirit of the earth.

Watch how it fades to grey and black.

The color of concrete and pavement.

Inhabitable and unkind; indifferent.

Slowly the color is sapped out of the spirit of the earth.

Falling.

Falling slowly into the abyss called humanity.
