The father is nowhere to be found and the mother is crying, but not tears of joy.

For the bride is not her daughter anymore.

The groom stares blankly and wishes someone would take him away from the church.

For the bride does not love him anymore.

Everyone sits quietly and watches the ceremony. Even when they should speak they hold their peace.

For the bride is not worth the effort anymore.

The vicar performs his duty and sighs sadly as they leave. He can't even pray for them.

For God is not there anymore.
