I’ve never been very good with girls, but it was just so easy to sit with Trish and drink my soup in the restaurant. I felt at ease, like this was how it should be. She didn’t say much, I think she felt strange speaking around me, seeing how I couldn’t answer. She wasn’t like my mother; she didn’t speak to fill a space. She spoke when she had something to say, and I was so lucky because I was the one that she had something to say to.
