Not Another Urban Fiction
Author's Note: Okay, I know that I start stories and things that I never finish. I'm sorry for all that. Since everything in my life is happening too fast. School just started and everything and plus I'm getting older and the internet isn't really on my list of things to enjoy anymore. Music is always on my mind as well. But anyways, I decided to try to start a new story. The spanish in this story will not be perfect because I used a translator.
Summary: Manuel is a 17 year old singing sensation in Spanish Harlem, New York. He came from Puerto Rico not too long ago. He wants to get out of the barrio, find a girlfriend, and live his dream in the music industry. Along the way he deals with issues that seem to want to drag him down.
Chapter One
"¿Manuel Valero?"
Manuel raised his hand. "Aquí." (Here.)
Mr. Rosario laughed. "Mi amigo Manuel Valero." (My friend Manuel Valero.)
"Sí, señor. Cómo es usted señor?" (Yes sir. How are you?)
"Soy bueno. ¿Y usted?" (I'm good. And you?), the teacher replied sitting down at the desk while the rest of the students continued to joke around.
"Adivino que estoy bien. Muevo pronto." (I guess I'm okay. I'm moving soon.)
Mr. Rosario stopped drinking his coffee and looked at his favorite student. He shook his head in disbelief. "¿Qué? ¿Por qué? ¿Quién le hace sale?" (What? Why? Who is making you leave?)
"Mis padres," (My parents.) he answered nonchalantly.
Before they could finish their conversation, the bell rang. Mr. Rosario couldn't say a word. Manuel left before the teacher could speak. Mr. Rosario watched him leave the classroom into the busy hallway.
In Puerto Rico, it was the first day of school and Manuel had to sign out. Saying goodbye to his teachers including the ones he had last year. Like the youngest teacher, Mr. Rosario.
While leaving the school, Manuel saw his girlfriend of one year, Alicia. She smiled at him and he just looked at her. When she got closer she kissed him.
"¿Qué está equivocado?" (What's wrong?), she asked while holding his body.
He sighed. "Salgo hoy mi amor." (I'm leaving today my love.)
Alicia's smile vanished. She let go of her boyfriend and turned around so he wouldn't see her cry. She covered her face with one of her hands and silently sobbed. Manuel was too hurt to comfort her. He wanted to but couldn't move. Instead he just stood there.
He said, "Usted sabe te quiero y yo quiero que usted venga conmigo pero mis padres no permitirán que mí traigale." (You know I love you and I want you to come with me but my parents won't let me bring you.) He paused. "Hago ni sé por qué ellos me hacen le salgo. Ellos me hacen salgo este lugar hermoso para uno no tan hermoso. Ellos me hacen salgo a mi amiga hermosa para nada. Adoro Puerto Rico, te quiero como. Esto es duro en mí demasiado Alicia." (I don't even know why they're making me leave you. They're making me leave this beautiful place for one not so beautiful. They're making me leave my beautiful girlfriend for nothing. I love Puerto Rico, just like I love you. This is hard on me too Alicia.)
Alicia quickly turned around with tears on her face and said, "Dígalos usted no va. Por favor Manuel. Te quiero tanto. Yo le quiero. Yo le necesito. Yo le necesito aquí conmigo." (Tell them you're not going. Please Manuel. I love you so much. I want you. I need you. I need you here with me.)
"Lo siento." (I'm sorry.)
Alicia shook her head and pushed him. She turned around and went back home. Manuel sighed heavily and walked in the opposite direction to his home.
While walking he noticed that the island didn't seem livened up like usually. It could have been the fact that there was a hurricane on the way or that school had started or that he was leaving. He didn't care. All he wanted right now was for his life to be over. He was leaving the place he was born and raised in. The place where he had his first show, his first kiss, his virginity taken. It was the first time for him. He never imagined leaving a place so beautiful. Now that is was happening, he couldn't think straight.
Author's Note: That's all I have for right now. Mainly because I wanna upload it now. So people can read it. I hope you enjoy the story. Stay tuned. I promise, I'll end this story.
