I pulled my hand away from Alexis when I felt the room shift to the left; I didn’t want to end up shattering her hand because I squeezed it a little harder than I should have.
Did he really figure out what was wrong with me? What if it was something serious, something no one could control? What if I hurt someone because of what ever it is I have? What If I hurt Trent? Or Melody, or Tristan? I forced myself to think of the next name on my list. What if I hurt Alexis? I don’t know how I would be able to live with myself, what if—
“Eric,” Trent kneeled in front of me, trying to bring my attention back to him by snapping in my face. “Eric, you need to listen to me.”
I shook my head in an attempt to shake the thoughts from my head. It took more care and strength to pay attention to Trent, but I nodded, letting him know that he could proceed.
“We’re going to give you a mixture of your own venom, mixed with Alexis’s blood,” He shot a quick glance at Alexis who furrowed her brow in surprise. “We’ll draw blood from Alexis and venom from you and mix them outside your body.”
“Why my blood?” She asked, astonishment littered her tone.
“You seem to be the only one who can activate his venom. Or make him blush. We aren’t quite sure how Tristan achieved it at school last week, so we’re not going to waste our time. Don’t worry, it will only be a little blood, and we’ll tell you exactly what you need to do,” Melody said in a hushed and slightly hurried tone.
Trent smirked and quickly looked at Tristan, both their blocks still up to me. What ever it was made Tristan grin widely and chuckle.
“You guys are sick. But whatever works,” Melody mumbled.
Trent turned back to me. “We’re going to take you down to the basement to do this.”
“You never told me what was wrong?” I spoke as soon as I found my voice only seconds later.
“I’ll tell you after everything is said and done. I don’t know how you’d react if I told you exactly what I think is going on, so just to be safe, we’re going to leave you in the dark. Anyways, it’s just a theory. And if my theory is incorrect, you’ll just need some anti-venom.”
I didn’t like this idea, but I had no choice. Trent pulled me off the couch and pulled me towards the basement.
“Alexis, follow us,” she got up and did as Trent said, following behind me hesitantly.
As soon as we got down to the basement I noticed a change. All the furniture had been removed, leaving the fiery red brick walls and the crimson carpet. The ceiling fan that hung down had been removed as well, leaving a good sized hole on the ceiling in the center.
Trent pulled out a syringe and took Alexis’s frail left arm in his large hand, turning it to find a visible vein to draw blood from. Melody rubbed a clear spot with alcohol to numb it before Trent took the blood.
Tristan pushed me into a chair as Trent took the blood. I felt him wrapped something around me, but I wasn’t paying close attention. I was stuck on the look of pain that was plastered to Alexis’s face as she looked away from Trent, wincing as he pushed the needle in and took a small amount of blood.
Trent removed the blood and walked into the bathroom across the room, which we had changed into a large refrigerator for the blood.
It was then I noticed that Tristan had used a thick metal cable to tie me to the stainless steel chair.
I tried to pull away. I started to panic. No one was telling me what they thought would happen. No one was telling me what was wrong. No one was telling me anything.
I tried harder to pull away, but my mind started to sprint toward the edge.
Tristan had injected the mixture of blood and my own venom. And for a split second I wondered when he had taken the venom from my body.
I stopped struggling and sat still hoping my mind would do the same and stopped running for the cliff.
“Alexis, we need to get out of here, now!” I heard a voice call. I heard feet running around, but I couldn’t see anything. I noticed my eyes where shut and I wrenched them back.
I frantically searched the room.
Everything was in grayscale.
I spotted Alexis who had backed up into a corner. She was visibly shaking and held her arms as close to her body as she could get.
I stared into her golden orbs, seeing nothing but fear with flecks of worry in them. I couldn’t imagine what my eyes told her, but her eyes widened and then she was gone. I searched the room and found Tristan holding her in his arms.
Then he did something that I didn’t understand. He held Alexis cradled in his arms. He grinned at me. One of his extremely goofy smiles that he used when he was talking to a girl, or lying. This usually meant he was lying to a girl.
All of a sudden, Tristan leaned over and kissed Alexis.
I growled a deep, rough roar of agony and frustration. I had no idea what was happening, but my mind sped up and I shut my eyes tightly, still sitting in the chair, tied down. I lost control; my mind raced full speed toward the cliff and then dove head first right off.
----------
I first found myself conscious when I felt a sharp pain in my right wrist. Then other pains came. I had a migraine so bad, that I thought I had actually cracked my skull. I reached up and rubbed my hand over my forehead just to make sure I didn’t. I then rand my hand down over my eyes and tried to rub the sleep from them. I dropped my left hand down to my chest and winced.
I pulled back my eye lids and tried to determine where I was. I looked around and saw a hole in the ceiling. I furrowed my brow and slowly rolled over, moaning in pain. I stood up, but fell back onto my back. I pushed myself up and leaned against the back wall, looking around as everything started to come back to me.
I looked at my hands as if they would tell me what the hell was going on. I squeezed my eyes shut when I saw the deep gash in my right wrist. It was only then that it started to continuously sting. I could smell the warm venom escape from the long, slender cut. The lemony floral scent was so sickly sweet, it was making me sick.
I looked around the room to see several holes in the walls, the missing pieces of bricks lying on the ground below it. Then I got to the biggest hole. There was what I was looking for. I saw the dark blue venom dripping of a sharp piece of brick, and I started to wonder what had happened.
I sat there for the longest time and trying to remember what had happened. It was like one of those stupid rubiks cubes. You just wanted to cheat and peal the stickers off just so you could glue them back in the right spots. I took a deep breath and let it out in an aggravated huff. I looked down and saw that the venom had cleaned the wound and it was starting to close. The original three inch long wound was now a lot smaller. I estimated a total of twenty-four hours until the entire wound was cleaned up.
I attempted to call out to Trent or Melody, wondering why I hadn’t done it earlier.
Seconds later Trent pushed the door open and carefully stepped in, looking around, landing on me last. “Man, you destroyed the place!” He walked over and kneeled in front of me, immediately taking my wrist in his hands.
“Not only the room, but yourself. Can you stand?” I stood up and headed for the door behind him.
It hadn’t been two seconds after I had reached the living room that I was immediately hit with something from the left that then latched on to my side.. Wincing, I looked down to see Alexis. She buried her face in my side and her shoulders where shaking with her broken sobs.
“Alexis…” I whispered in wonder. Her arms tightened around my waist.
“Her mother is on her way over here,” Melody whispered. “While you where, er, out of commission, Tristan and I did a little research. Alexis’s mother, Alexandra, is definitely in the Tenshi.”
I looked at her. “Why is she coming here?” I asked as I picked up Alexis and sat on the couch. She still had her face buried in my chest.
“She’s been ordered to kill Alexis. Alexandra’s husband, Alexis’s father, is in the Akuma.” Trent said in a calm, even tone. He looked at me as he expected me to blow up.
“So which side does Alexis inherit?” I looked at her as I spoke. She sharply inhaled and slowly looked up at me with large, fearful eyes.
