Such Denial

January 4, 2007

Close your eyes when

you don’t want to see

what’s going on around you

anymore.

Hold your hands over

your ears for however

long it takes. Until you

can remember what it

was like before.

Denial works for everyone.

Don’t believe anyone

who says any different.

It’s the best way to go when

you’re hurt and you’re

crying on the inside.

All the time. Just tell them

you’re fine. If you can

convince them then you can

convince yourself. It

shouldn’t be that hard.

It’s easier than feeling what

you’d be feeling otherwise.

They might say, oh such denial.

But you won’t mind. You’ll

smile. Because smiling is

easier when you’ve convinced

yourself it’s alright. And

everything will be just fine.

Maybe not tomorrow. But

someday your heart will stop

hurting. And if not, you can

always pretend.
