Smoke and Mirrors

All that we ever know

Doesn't exist

And we can never ever find it.

Life is a joke

A plaything of someone

Who we can't even see.

Anything

Can be taken away

At any time.

Anything

Anyone

Any time.

A trick of the light

And we realize there's nothing we can do

To prevent ourselves

From becoming lost

Or losing ourselves.

A snap of the fingers

And nothing is left.

Smoke and mirrors

Make up our whole life.

Life could be a dream

Of some crazed lunatic

Who can wake up at any time,

Destroying everyone and everything at the same time.

We might not even exist.

But we'll never know.

Because we can never know

What is real and what's not.

We'll never know anything

Or everything

Or nothing at all.

Life

Love

Hatred

None of it is real.

So try to enjoy what you have

Or think you have

While you have it

Because life

Is made up of

Smoke and mirrors.

Yeah, I know it's sort of crazy and delusional, but hey. I was depressed and feeling sorta emo and this was what came out. So tell me what you think because I have more of these semi-morbid poems stored up that I could put on here, but let me know whether you liked this one first.
