It was raining, but he didn’t care. The tree he was sitting in provided at least some shelter. For once, he didn’t have anything to do that he would rather not. That probably wouldn’t last long. He stared bitterly at the children laughing and playing in the rain innocently. They didn’t have a care in the world, unlike he did. He had never been innocent. Never had a chance to. He had been forced since day one to do the deeds of some of someone evil.

Another boy was walking down the sidewalk, enjoying the spring rain. All was right in the world. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement. He stopped and looked at the tree from where the movement had come. He was met by glowing, angry eyes staring at him. He blinked, and the eyes were gone.
