You tell me what to say,
And you tell me what to do.
You tell me how to act,
So that I don't offend someone like you.
Make me suppress the way I am,
Tell me to be someone else.
Tell me not to speak my mind,
Tell me not to be myself.

Still others tell me to be bad,
To do what doesn't feel right.
It's not much more me than your way.
The world can't be so black and white.

Both ideas have many flaws,
You're not well suited either way.
Neither can be right or wrong,
We have to live in shades of gray.
