SwordSaga Online: Virtual Reality Duality

By: Dante The Animelover

Prologue: Let The Games Begin!

Diaten brushed back short black hair while he loaded the “SwordSaga” onto his computer. The game sold out million copies worldwide and Diaten just had to play it after hearing that almost everyone in school had gotten the game. Diaten looked the screen as it setup the flies on his desktop, wondering what it was like. He knew of course it was RPG and had like for those kinda games, but he wondered still why everyone wanted it so much. A loud ringing sound came form the computer and the file was loaded with the SWORD SAGA page on the screen.

Diaten grabbed his mouse and took all the basic steps like registration and other crap gamers have to do just even get into the game go. When finally did complete the mess of it all, he was finally allowed to create his character. He fold his arms and thought about what he would like for his character to be, basically, a swordsman who knew magic. He got a idea and entered the info into the following fields.

NAME/USER NAME: DIA

Class: Swordsman

Subclass: Sorcerer (Destructive Magic)

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Appearance: Short black hair, blue eyes.

The screen asked him was he sure and of course, Diaten pressed confirm. After that the screen went black and it prompted him to put on the GAME GLASSES, a device that looked like a helmet and came with game as to put the player in the middle of the game, like a virtual reality program. He put the glasses and pressed the prompt button. All of sudden the glasses lit up and Diaten felt his mind drift to off to the light.

When he came to, Diaten looked in the mirror and seen his self as Dia, a short black haired, blue eyed, character wearing a adventurer jacket with black pants, brown boots, and a sword strapped to his back. When the looked at the character and took the mirror, everything disappeared and Dia felt himself falling into a never needing hole. He fell asleep again. When came to again, he was standing in a town, with many buildings like the medieval era and a clear blue sky that seemed to real. He was in SwordSaga and the starting town, Libi.

As Dia walked around marveling at the scenery that seemed almost life like, he seen what the big deal was about this game and couldn't believe that he was playing it, let alone that he was in a virtual world. In the wonder of it all, he felt a tap at the shoulder and turned around to see a blond hair boy, wearing a brown jacket, black pants, and brown boots smiling. Dia backed up and wondered what was his problem.

Diaten is that you?” the blond hair boy said. “You know me Kenji or should say Kentama here.”

Dia was shocked to see that it was his classmate from school, Kenji. Dia remembered that he would meet him today, but never looking like that. “Hey Kentama. So I finally made my character and ready to get started.”

Awesome. Well first, I'll add you to my friend list, so that we stay in contact and make a party at anytime we please. Secondly, we going to Gazuma Plains to train, so make sure your ready and well equipped.”

Dia nodded his head, his eyes sparkling with glee. Kentama sighed. “Well come on Dia, I know you wanted to play his real bad, so let's go.” With Dia beside Kentama, the two headed out the city into the wilderness of the of the world. Along with the pathway, Dia could help notice how the environment was and had to asked his question.

Kentama these graphics are too real! How did Indoware do all this in a year?”

Beat me,” Kentama shrugged. “Indoware is shady company that is not very know about expect to the people that work there.”

Dia puffed up his face, feeling that the answer he received wasn't good enough. After a few minutes more coming to the hill a large that they trekked up, Dia forget all about his question and looked at the beauty and majesty of Gazuma Plains. Looking from atop the hill, the view of many rolling hills and a sun that you could almost run into, made Dia break into goosebumps. Kentama tap him on the shoulder and gestured to him of a group of monsters, goblins that were wearing armor. They exchanged glances, then Dia pulled out his sword with them both running down the hill, yelling and brandishing fist and sword. A three goblins seen the charge to come to meet them in battle.

Dia, still a bit unexperienced fought the his kill with ease, cutting it's wooden club in half then stabbing it between the chest and shoulder, but Kentama took the two remaining ones with great vigor and excitement, landing a jabs on the head and chest area. The fallen foes vanished, and the battle was over with a surprise prompt coming up.

VICTORY: 50 EXP AND 200 G EACH

Kentama waved his clenched fist in the air yelling with glee. “How was your first fight Dia?”

Pretty good. Let's find more.” Dia brandishing his sword around.

Kentama nodded and searched the field for enemies. Finally he spotted a strange glowing goblin and decide it would be there prey. Again, Kentama signal Dia and they attacked. Kentama decided to be a showoff and do the goblin in but all of his attacks seemed futile, as no damage was dealt over and over with his jabs and punches. Dia leaped into the fray swing his blade, but it was no better as well. It was goblin turn and he waved his hands, creating a swirling fireball that hit Kentama taking a big damage amount on his HP.

Damn it!” Kentama growled. “That thing can mess you up with it's spells! We have run from that thing we can't beat it as we are.”

Dia held his sword at his side. “I haven't started to show my powers yet!”

Kentama wanted to call him back, but Dia was on the attack, gathering a massive amount of energy in his palms. It soon formed into a crimson sphere of fire that threw at the goblin that dodged. The goblin looked at the fireball and a little screen appeared to Dia and Kentama, tracking it's path. It actually showed a player who had a griffin in a bran with the girl picking grass, for it outside. The fireball hit the barn, feather going everywhere.

OMG!” The girl screamed and the screened closed and back to the goblin and Dia.

Kentama laughed. “Ah man, there goes the neighborhood. That girl is going to be pissed if she finds you man. You total pwned her pet dude! Feathers going everywhere.” The laughter still came.

Dia shuddered and ran past Kentama with the goblin on his trail. Kentama ran to seeing the goblin charged and the two were fleeing for there lives.

Man we are screwed if it gets us!” Kentama yelled. “I didn't save any of this and I know for sure you didn't

All of a sudden there was a large explosion behind them of smoke and dust from a powerful spell. Dia and Kentama stopped running to see when the smoke cleared, the goblin was gone and the prompt of victory back.

VICTOR: LEVELED UP TO LVL 10 AND 500 G AWARD EACH

Dia and Kentama stop there running and turned to back to see there foe stop giving chase. Looking at the status bar, Diaten seen that he went up nine levels from which he started. He was very confused, but happy all the same.

Dude, we leveled up quick from that one monster! And what you think happened.

Dia nodded. “I have no idea but this game is cool as dude! I can't wait to play more though. Magical spells coming from nowhere, I guess it just divine karma.”

Not on your life!” A female voice yelled.

The savior of Dia was a girl named Shear, a dark haired, blue eyed mage with a dark cape, and short tunic. Kentama jumped back and waved his finger.

Ah man, It's Shear from school! DUDE SHE GOING TO MESS US UP BIG TIME!! I FORGOT TO WAIT ON HER!!”

She jumped down from her perch on the hill, with a smile on her face as began to crack her knuckles. “Yes you did. Now get ready to pay the price for your actions. Dia you might wanna move.”

Dia moved aside, as Shear unleashed her wrath on Kentama, with fireballs, lighting bolts, and other arcane sources flying around. Dia sighed heavily but couldn't help but smile at the fact of something that he been waiting on for so long had finally meet his call. He was excited about this game.

...Meanwhile back at the pasture, the girl who had griffin blown up, had new one in a new barn, but as fate would have it, a stray spell from Shear, blew up the barn up again with the girl no her knees looking at the floating feather in the air.

Not Again!” she shouted. “Why ME?!”
