Lost Time

I know that our time here together is coming to a close

it's rather funny how they say that love grows

as we lay here and watch the sunset

again, I forget

The time was never quite right to tell you

but I always figured that you already knew

I believed it was obvious

and because I was careless

I forgot to tell you tonight

This is our last night together

I wish it could go on forever

We watch the stars twinkle in the sky

I lie there and wonder why

Why it is we must part

Why it is that it hurts so much

Why it is there is something tugging at the back of my mind

but I can't remember

and on our last night together

I forgot

Perhaps, if I had remembered that night,

you never would have left me for so long.

It has been a long time since you've comforted and told me it was alright

You were always the one who made me so strong

There was always something I needed to tell you

but I could never remember what it was

Until now.

As I sit here across from you

has everything really changed that much?

You aren't alone anymore

because you have her

when you stand up to bid me goodbye

I forgot to tell you again

that I loved you.
