Chapter 4

The beavers seemed a bit scared at first but after a few days, they understood that Kia wasn't there to hurt or to eat them. They were doing their job as she wasn't there and they were sharing their food with her.

At first, the fish had a funny taste for Kia but then, she got used to it. Her actual life was okay; she was safe, near water and she had plenty of food and friends. But soon enough, she felt like something was calling her. And she just wanted to leave that boring life near the river.

Of course, the beavers were nice and friendly creatures but their language was strange to Kia and she felt alone because she hadn't got anybody to talk with. She wanted to adventure in the forest, to find some creatures of her kind, even if they would be attacking her, she wanted to see one of her kind again, a wolf.

One night, she just couldn't stand it anymore. It was midnight, the moon was clearly illuminating the water and Kia was more anxious than usual. She let out a long howl before leaving the beavers.

She ran through the dark forest, not knowing where she was heading towards. It was dark and silent; she could only hear her feet on the dead leaves. She suddenly stopped; something was there for sure, watching her with its shiny red eyes. The creature took one step forward, coming out from the shadow. It was a full-grown wolf which didn't seem too pleased by her presence and approached growling. Kia didn't know what to do so she did what anyone would: she ran away. The creature didn't chase her but she didn't know what was on the creature's mind so she just kept running. She couldn't see the wolf anymore so she stopped and rested a bit.

She started walking again, and she walked for like 3 hours, until she heard some strange noises. The forest was ending and the noises were louder as she approached. Finally, she understood that those noises were voices and the creatures making them were humans. Of course, she didn't know what humans are. She just knew that they were communicating with each other in a foreign language. Kia approached and hid behind a bush. She saw a big wooden thing with the two humans talking on it. The wooden thing was a ship and the two humans talking on it were only two sailors which complained about the food.

Kia thought of climbing up the ship and go wherever it will take her since she had nothing to do. So she managed somehow to climb up aboard and hide behind some rum barrels. The rum smell was getting annoying and soon enough she felt sick because of it. Because of the smell and the tiredness, she soon fell asleep.

When she woke up, she found herself in the snowy North. It was cold and it was well...snowing. Kia got off the ship and started wandering trough the snowed firs. She was searching for a warm place because her paws were freezing. When she thought that it couldn't be worse, it started snowing. In a few minutes the silently falling flakes transformed into a blizzard which was blinding Kia. She had to find somewhere to hide from the blizzard but how? She could see only a few meters in front of her. She could just do one thing: continue walking in hope she'll find a refuge.
