Disclaimer? What disclaimer?
Author's Note: It began as a free-write for an English assignment. It's odd to think about such a question; it seems simple enough, but there's so much more behind the answer.
What's Your
Favorite Color?
Sapphire Jewel
It's a standard
question
That people seem to ask
"What's your favorite
color?"
And I never know what to answer
I know it's not
neon pink
As a matter of fact
I can't say
That my favorite
color is any shade of that rose color
I know it's not
yellow
It's far too bright
It's far too cheerful
But it
also clashes with my color tone
I know it's not
orange
I never liked it much
Although it is a shade used to
color fire
Warm colors never really did anything for me
I never really
liked pastel colors either
Although I honestly find them
peaceful
They're a little too "pretty"
They're a
little too innocent, for lack of a better description
Quite frankly, I
prefer the shade black
It's quite elegant; it's perfect, but not
in an obvious way
It's subtle and it's strong; it cannot be
tainted
For black will always remain itself; it cannot be swayed
I find the shade quite soothing
When
it forever fails to fade
It's like a stronghold
That cannot
be battered down
But of the metallic colors
Silver is
quite the work
It's cool exterior; it's shining worth
Are both
alluring and even seductive
And then there is red
The color of
life
The color of passion
The color of love
But it's most remarkable when it turns
to crimson
And darker reds have been just as enrapturing
The
color of blood, the very thing that sustains life
Is it not
utterly fascinating?
But I cannot leave out the glittering
emerald green
Its slightly darker shade of green has always been
something to notice
And then there are the dark blues that
eagerly reflect
The deep waters and the midnight sky
But the dark purples cannot be
forgotten
The pure royalty cannot be ignored
But speaking of
pure, what about white?
Is it not perfect? Is it not "right"?
My
opinion is that much is revealed about a person
Through his or her
choice of color
But preference also directly reflects
The
character and personality of the individual
I am a pessimist at heart
I tend to
shy away from warm colors
I enjoy basking in the darkness of the
richer shades
To me they speak elegance, but also so much more
The darker colors speak of the
world
Black especially so
It speaks of the corruptness of the
world
It speaks of no hope for mankind
So I suppose I really must say
To
the ever present question
"What's your favorite color?"
My
favorite color is black; what's yours?
