Introduction Speech

Hello everyone, and thank you for coming. My name is Brian Webber. I am 25 years old, and am in this class here for several reasons.

I am an English major, and I hope one day to become a novelist. I love to read as well as write of course. You have to read a lot if you want to write, there's just no way around that.

I also love music. Some people will tell you that you can judge someone by their music collection, but I question that, as the only logical conclusion that can be reached by people looking at mine is that I suffer from multiple-personality disorder. That said, I'm like most people in that I consider The Beatles to be the best band in the universe..

I love movies as well. My movie list could also have people who don't know me well wondering just how many people I have in my head. My favorite movies include but are not limited to Living Out Loud, Serenity, Akira, Scream, and Rent.

I am a frequent TV watcher as well though in recent years I've had some success in cutting back on the amount I watch in terms of scripted drama. I do watch C-SPAN, being a politically active person since age 6, but I also enjoy such shows as NBC's Heroes and USA Network's Psyche. My taste in TV shows has also often gotten me judged badly, not the least of which is my open appreciation of Gilmore Girls.

I have a cat named Piper, who I love like a child. She's an orange tabby, is very affectionate, eats like a bird, and loves to be around me even when I don't have food. She's been missing for over a week now, and I'm very worried about her, but I'm sure she's okay. She has her tags and her shots. I just hope that she's getting fed where ever she is.

I wish I could give you a better understanding of who I am, but I am really too complex as a person, a person to whom no one label could be applied without being both right and wrong. 2-3 minutes just couldn't cut it. But thank you for listening anyway, and I look forward to the rest of the class. So as two of my personal idols are known for saying, good night, and good luck.
