fool’s gold

he smiled at me like
i was worth
something more
then just a
fleeting glance between strangers.

and i wanted to know so much.

– his name,
taste the sound of it on my tongue.
the last time he cried,
allowing him to hide his face in my embrace.
whether or not he has ever made
another almost awkward girl
feel like she could do something
with her life –

i wanted to be the only one.

fleetingly,
i wondered
if our different skin tones
would contrast nicely
against each other and if he
saw the person in me that
no one else knows.

a/n: i got carried away spending a sunny afternoon with you.
