Wait and see, a great surprise,

The gift I’ll hold before your eyes,

A little puppet boy for you

To use as you might choose to do.

Be careful of pulling on his strings,

They really are such fragile things.

You can make him move all around,

But beware the little, squeaking sound.

For when you pull his strings too tight,

They’ll snap and fall off, out of sight.

Be tender, careful with this toy,

It dreamt once of being a little boy.

Before it threw off those fragile chains

And crammed its head so full of brains

That he knew of death and he knew of life,

He knew of envy and he knew of strife.

So quick he put back on those strings

He forgot he still knew all those things.

So be tender, careful, little girl.

This puppet boy can see the world.
