Prologue

Where am I? A pair of eyes the color of leaves blink open. Where is everybody? Mother? Father? Darkness. Sahayra sat up blindly. It was truly and completely dark. It was stifling. “Hello..?” Her voice sounded small and stifled in her head. Suddenly a voice echoed out. Loud and commanding.

Sahayra. You have been exiled from our world. You are an abomination. A mix of demon and elf. The council cannot allow you to stay and remain a threat to our world. You will not be coming back. Say your goodbyes to your parents and prepare yourself for teleportation.

Exiled? Before the news fully sank in, a hologram flashed in front of the half-elf. Her parents. They were waving tearfully. Her mother was clutching her father’s shirt and sobbing wetly into it while he stood stiffly looking at her with red rimmed eyes. She had never seen her father crying. He never came close. Their lips moved and though she could not hear sound from the hologram, she could make out three words, “We love you.” Sahayra tired to crawl closer and stretched out a hand hoping she could touch them one last time, so hear her mother’s soothing voice and her father’s gruff one just once more. Mother! Father!

A flash of light. Darkness ensued…again.
